Mathiwos Wondu-YeEthiopia Cancer Society/MWECS/ is a local civil society organization established in 2004 and working on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and their risk factors. MWECS is collaboratively working with Ministry of Health (MoH) and Regional Health Bureaus (RHBs) to curtail the growing NCDs burden in Ethiopia. Position Overview

As part of the MWECS Learning Analytics Activity, we are looking for a skilled and team-oriented Data Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for being a focal person of data collection, analysis, visualization and reporting for M&E team. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a variety of tools and approaches to process, interpret, organize, and transform data throughout the engagement.

 

Job Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
  • Design intuitive user interfaces and navigation flows for interactive dashboards, considering user needs and best practices in data visualization.
  • Mining data from primary and secondary sources, then reorganizing said data in a format that can be easily read by either human or machine.
  • Using statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.
  • Preparing reports for executive leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
  • Creating appropriate documentation that allows stakeholders to understand the steps of the data analysis process and duplicate or replicate the analysis if necessary.
  • Generate KPI for monitoring project status and ensure DQA.
  • Provides training and technical assistance on data management and tracking to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Clearly communicating the findings from the analysis to turn information into something actionable through reports, dashboards, and/or presentations.
  • Program Convenes and facilitates discussions with stakeholders to design and implement tools and reports must be results-focused and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines of multiple grant implementations.
  • Plans, organizes and accurately completes multiple tasks by establishing priorities while taking into consideration special assignments, frequent interruptions, deadlines, available resources, and multiple reporting relationships.
  • Helps refine project management practices through the creation of new reporting and analytical tools
  • Acts as a thought-partner for the M&E team, finding creative and effective ways to reflect the value of MWECS projects
  • Apply additional activities as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Salary: As per the project scale and with some level of negotiation. It will also include monthly transport and telephone allowance.

 

Duty Station    : Addis Ababa with frequent field travel to project target Health Facilities

About You

Job Requirements

 

  • Reporting to M&E Program Manager, the job holder will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure all datasets dispensation and consumption are optimally built, deployed and operationally supported

 

Qualification and Experience Requirements

 

  • Master’s Degree in Statistics, Health Informatics, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.
  • 2+ years of experience in Analytics Development, Reporting, Dash-boarding and Analysis.
  • Proven working experience in Data Analysis, Data Engineering, Data Visualization, Data Management.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing digital data collection tools (kobotool box, SurveyCTO, CommCare, etc.).
  • Able to demonstrate expertise in data visualization and data analytics tools (Tableau, ArcGIS, Survey123, Python, Excel) and techniques.
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, EPI-info, etc.).
  • A through experience on developing Information Management System.
  • Adept at queries, report writing, generates ad-hoc reports providing snapshot views of program status and supports Quality Improvement (QI) projects and presenting findings.
  • An experience in NGOs working on health is an added advantage.
