The Center for Implementation Sciences (CIS) in Health at the School of Public Health, College of Health Sciences, and Addis Ababa University seeks to accelerate translation of effective policies and evidence-based practices into public health and development benefits through influencing policies, strategies, programs and practices at different levels of the health system. The CIS shall work, through its multidisciplinary teams and in close collaboration with relevant governmental and non-governmental stakeholders, to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies, methods, approaches, and models to promote the adoption, implementation, sustainment, and scale-up of evidence-based policies, practices, and programs in the fields of public health.

 

The center is looking for a qualified and enthusiastic data quality manager with relevant qualifications and experience for Specialized Lactation Support for Preterm/LBW infants Implementation Research in partnership with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

 

Job Summary

 

  • The Outcome Measurement Research Assistants (OM-RA), under the guidance of the Outcome Measurement Coordinator, Principal Investigators and Project Managers will:
  • Oversee, supervise and routinely review overall project data including evaluation and costing data
  • Coordinate data collection activities, supervise data entry and identify, review, and correct any errors or inconsistencies in the collected data to maintain high-quality datasets
  • Ensure data security and manage data sharing processes.
  • Address technical issues related to data collection, storage, management and analysis
  • Conduct rapid and rigorous data analysis including trend analysis and share findings with study investigators, the study manager and hospital-based study teams
  • Ensure thorough documentation of the data collection process and generate regular data reports for the research team as requested
  • Conduct regular onsite data quality monitoring meetings with OMRAs
  • Perform regular observations and interviews at the health facilities to ensure data quality and consistency
  • Working closely with the study PIs, investigators and study manager
  • Contribute to  data analysis for the development of relevant and publishable peer-reviewed articles
  • Train and mentor research staff and OM-RAs on data collection protocols and data quality standards.
  • Monitor compliance with ethical guidelines and regulatory standards for data management and sharing.
  • Identify opportunities for integrating innovative tools or methodologies to enhance data quality and efficiency.
  • Execute tasks assigned by the study manager
  • Carry out additional responsibilities given by the project PI
  • The data quality manager will be based in Addis Ababa with regular travel to phase one and phase two study sites.

About You

Job Requirements

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s university degree in MPH , Biostatistics , Epidemiology , Health Informatics, Statistics, or  related fields
  • At least 2 years of work experience in health-related fields, particularly in data analysis or research.
  • Strong Proficiency in health data analysis and visualization
  • Proficiency in software such as Microsoft, Red Cap, ODK, Kobo tool box, Epi data, STATA and other relevant tools.
  • Knowledge of the Ethiopian health system, including hospitals, health centers and communities.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English required

 

Additional Qualifications:

 

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills is desired.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple project activities, balance conflicting priorities, and handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Must exhibit tact and diplomacy in inter-cultural settings.
  • Any pre-service field research experience related to maternal and newborn health in Ethiopia is desirable.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and careful attention to detail.
