ABOUT the role
The FCM Manager will ensure the adherence to the necessary standards contained in the company protocol (Protocol for The Management of False Codling Moth; FCM) and any other company policies concerned with FCM control. He/she will be responsible for all aspects and levels of compliance specifically related to the control of FCM.
This role oversee the company protocols for the management of False Codling Moth (FMC) to prevent violation of requirements for rose exports to the European Union (EU) and elsewhere.
About you
As a FCM Manager, you will use your relevant methods of controls and systems where necessary to deal with preventing the violation of requirements of rose exports to the EU and elsewhere. Also with Operations and Research, develop a FCM Risk Management System to cover the production, harvesting and post-harvest handling through the application of various levels of control and intervention.
- Be driven to further develop and strengthen, FCM Risk Management systems and controlling methods.
- Demonstrate proactive problem-solving, organizational skills, prioritization, and reliability.
- Revise and improve procedures and reports were necessary, to identify potential risks and non-compliance.
- Supervise and control a team of FCM monitoring and Inspection staff to ensure all FCM monitoring, and control is effective while maintaining a positive work environment.
- Collaborate with other growers in Ziway and Bio tech company staff to improve the control and suppression of FCM in Ziway.
Key Responsibilities
Work with Research to compile data and undertake analysis of the data to assist senior management with good, informed decisions on FCM status and control.
- Work with operations to improve all forms of controlling and suppression of FCM
- Prepare reports for management and outside regulatory bodies as required or appropriate.
- The FCM is responsible in reviewing the work of the FCM monitoring and Inspection teams and when required identify non-compliance issues by providing advice and training.
- Preparation of the monthly and quarterly status report and analysis of trends/practices
- Cultivating a continuous improvement mind set within their team.
- Directing teams to ensure the effective implementation of the Group’s FCM strategy.
- The Work condition in all three Sher Ethiopia sites, Outside, in the Greenhouses the Grading’s and wherever required.
- Also required to control and supervise a team of Monitoring (Scouts) and Inspectors in the Greenhouses and Gradings.

About You
Education, knowledge and skills
- Advanced education in Agricultural Science, Agronomy or Entomology
- At least three-five years of experience of experience with the field.
- Proficient in verbal and written English, Amharic & Afan Oromo
- Excellent Knowledge and understanding of FCM with good experience with the control of FCM
- Methodical, with good planning abilities and Leadership Skills.
- Excellent communication. To be able to communicate with peers and team members.
- Excellent problem analysis & problem-solving skills.
