ICAP -Columbia University Program (CIP Inc.) in Ethiopia:

Working in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH), HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Office (FHAPCO), Regional Health Bureau (RHB), local universities and colleges, ICAP Columbia University (ICAP-CU) Program on Ethiopia, funded by PEPFAR, through CDC supports comprehensive HIV/AIDS services in hospital-health center-community health networks in Ethiopia. Using funds obtained from PMI through USAID, it supports Malaria Laboratory Diagnosis and Monitoring in eight regions, and using funds obtained from PEPFAR through HRSA/CDC, supports nursing and midwifery capacity building in seven regions of Ethiopia. The global Nursing Capacity Building Program (GNCBP), PEPFAR funded program through HRSA, supports pre service and in service nursing programs in the country. The General Nursing component of GNCBP supports country programs on quality of nursing services and nursing care standards, works with FMOH, RHBs and nursing and midwifery professional associations.

1:Training and Learning Officer

Location: Addis Ababa

Salary Range : 1000 – 2000 USD

Job Summary:

The Training and Learning Officer will be responsible for coordinating and organizing series of trainings in collaboration with ICAP regional offices, Federal Ministry of Health, Ethiopian Public Health institute, regional health bureaus and regional reference laboratories on different topics. He/She is responsible for arranging all logistics related to the training.

Major Accountabilities:

Assist the organization of trainings through creating regular contact with technical staffs, regional offices and trainers.
Responsible for dispatch and confirmation of training correspondences e-mail, fax and hand delivery. Backstop training program team in maintaining communication with staffs and implementing partners.
Work with the SQMDT team in identification of contact of trainees and trainers. Responsible for collection of Training information management system (TIMS) forms, checking for completeness and proper recording of same in ICAP database and record files. Ensure proper filing of ICAP-sponsored training/workshops TIMS
Maintain and update training database for all ICAP-sponsored trainings, workshops and meetings periodical check-up for data harmonization in the database (i.e. ICAP)
Archive all training related information such as TIMS both in hard and soft copy, trainers and trainees evaluation result and training report.
Enter participant information regularly into train-soft database in a timely and accurate manner and follow up on the timely collection from regional offices, file the original copy properly.
Regularly communicate the training data to ICAP regional office for update and support them how to use the information for decision making.
Coordinating training logistics with logistic unit of ICAP-Ethiopia
Prepare training invitation letters and communicate with ICAP regional offices, Regional health bureaus and universities.
Develop and maintain training program files including correspondence with staffs, conference organizers, regional offices and partners, keep records of TIMS forms chronologically
Follow up on the preparation, signature and distribution of certificate as per the training SOP Assume other duties as needed and assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Skill and educational background

University Degree in public health or related discipline
At least five years of experience in planning, organizing and facilitating in-service training.
Familiar with training data entry
Willing to travel out of Addis for more than 80% of the time
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and partners
Good computing skills (MS-Office, etc.)
Writing and oral communication skills in English
Working experience in USG-partner is an advantage
Travel Requirements: Approximately 80% travel to supported regions
