Dan Church Aid (DCA) is a Denmark-based international NGO registered under certificate # 1083 by the Authority for Civil Society Organizations and working to improve the well-being of particularly the rural and pre-urban people in Ethiopia. DCA’s Programme mainly focuses on saving lives, building resilience, and fighting inequality targeting highly disaster-prone areas in Oromia, Amhara, Afar, and Gambella regions.
DCA Ethiopia Office is looking for a competent Field Officer in Gambella.
Position: Field Officer – Ethiopia Gambella
Overall responsibilities of the Job
The field officer will contribute to the successful implementation, and monitoring of DCA Ethiopia’s cash and livelihood interventions in Gambella both for refugees and the host communities for the project funded by BPRM. she/he shall be responsible for beneficiary targeting, registration and verification, and sensitization activities; provide technical guidance to incentive workers and targeted beneficiaries; ensure adherence to international humanitarian standards in delivering commitments; and empower vulnerable community groups including women and people with specific needs through increased access to and control over productive resources during the project.
Purpose:
- Responsible for beneficiary targeting, beneficiary registration and verification, beneficiary sensitization, mobilization, distribution of beneficiary cards, training and monitoring of the use of E-voucher, and capacity building of community-based volunteers.
- Responsible for the coordination of all activities at the camp level.
Engagement
- Conduct community sensitization on the project the target groups of the project and the selection criteria.
- Train the incentive workers and beneficiaries on the fresh food voucher package, and livelihood activities and why specific items are included in the e-voucher and the use of the e-voucher card.
- Provide ongoing capacity-building support to post-distribution monitor, cooking demonstration incentive refugee workers post-distribution monitor.
- Lead the cooking demonstration.
- Organize and mobilize project beneficiaries to attain sensitization and awareness meetings, and registration processes with active coordination with another team.
- Distribute e-cards and livelihood inputs for targeted beneficiaries.
- Create a linkage between cooking demonstrations and the purchase of a diversity of food items.
- Create and foster the spirit and culture of teamwork within the CDA team and other partners.
- Roll out use of the digital data collection and ensure data showing project progress is collected regularly.
- Closely follow up on the security situation at the camp level and share information with the coordinator.
Delivery
- Ensure timely delivery of information to beneficiaries, traders, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Support and ensure post-distribution monitoring is undertaken regularly.
- Accountable for ensuring that all complaints raised by beneficiaries are logged into the complaint logbook.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of first degree in Economics, Agriculture, development studies, or other related field.
- More than three years of supervisory experience in the field
- Good knowledge of the refugee operations in Ethiopia; more specifically Gambella
- Experience working with NGOs/Humanitarian agencies
- Excellent communication and organization skills, judgment and tact, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good report writing skills and computer skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of the operational context is advantageous.
