Position: INTERN- Wet Mill Advisors
Position Description:
While learning, the intern will support the implementation of TechnoServe’s CREW Project activities at cooperative and private wet mills in CREW‘s operating areas of Sidama and Oromia –West Guji zone project areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
INTERN- Wet Mill Advisors are responsible for supporting the implementation of CREW Project activities at cooperative and private wet mills to follow up and implement the day-to-day project activities at the grass-root level including the following duties & responsibilities: –
- Work closely with TechnoServe Business Advisor (BA) /Associate Business Advisor (ABA) and support them where need be while maximizing time to learn about wet mill operations and stakeholder relations.
- Support in conducting training to wet mill staff and leaders on Sustainability standards and coffee quality control with the support of BA/ABA
- Support in follow-up of wet mills to implement sustainability standards, support in following up adoption of the same, play role in supporting mills to implement and adhere to required coffee processing operations and coffee quality controls
- Support BA/ABA on the provision of training activities at wet mills clients. This includes but is not limited to audit training, SWOT analysis, and feedback delivery to wet mills, quality training, and all sustainability training as per the project requirement and donor requests
- The intern will work closely with the rest of the team to ensure timely preparations of Wet mills for audits and communication of the same to PM.
- Learn and also participate in providing technical support to wet mill clients as needed and with guidance from the experienced team
- Together with other team members, meet with cooperatives and private wet mill owners and wet mil staff to give day-to-day operational support
- Follow the footsteps of BAs and learn from them on the implementation of CREW wet mill day-to-day activities
- Submit weekly report and work plan to SBA
- Perform other duties as assigned by the SBA
Required Skills & Experience:
- Willingness to be based in assigned remote locations in Sidama Region operating areas and Oromia Region operating areas and willingness to spend significant time in rural areas;
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field – Business Management, Economics, Plant Science, Horticulture, Crop Science, Agriculture, etc.
- Interpersonal and cross-cultural skills as well as problem-solving skills;
- Planning skills and working to strict time guidelines;
- Fluency in Amharic and Sidamigna for the Sidama region and
- Fluency in Afan Oromo for Oromia region
- English oral & written presentation skills;
- Willingness to have a motorcycle driving license and be able to ride
- Computer literacy, including Word and Excel
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Sidama areas for Sidama project areas and Familiarity with Guji for Oromia West Guji areas
Location: Interns are required to be based in assigned locations in Oromia, WestGuji Bule Hora and Kercha Woreda and Sidama Region Aleta Wondo and Bensa areas.
