Through facilitation and provision of better access to education, Imagine1day is transforming generations to come. Education, Child protection and Gender-based-Violence, WASH, and Transformational leadership are pillars of Imagine1day’s operations in Ethiopia. We have been implementing projects in
Tigray, Oromia, South Ethiopia, Southwest Ethiopia, Central Ethiopia, Sidama, Benishangul Gumuz, Amhara, Afar, Somali and Gambella Regions. We have established 1,105+ partner schools with 188 school buildings/learning centers built by
it from the ground up.
Over 188,000+ Previously Out of School children (POSC) are enrolled, over 817,000+ children reached with education in emergency and protection services and over 740,000 people are impacted through its education and transformational leadership. Imagine1day has been gender sensitive and inclusive with every project it has been implementing via its holistic approach (school structure construction, school supplies provision, water point construction both for schools and for the community, capacity building training at all level, protection services as well as foundational and employability life skill trainings). Awareness creation about girls’ education and children with disability, creating inclusive and girls friendly school environment, providing high school scholarships (for 90% female and 10%male students) with its ‘Educate A Girl’ project.
About the position:
The WASH Officer will be responsible to facilitate the day to day WASH activities; Water scheme rehabilitation, sanitation facilities construction/maintenance, hygiene promotion activities for which these Officer/s will train volunteers, community representatives and elders on how to improve community and household level sanitation and hygienic activities on timely basis and frame results afterwards to measure how effective this hygiene promotion has been adopted in preventing cholera outbreak and other water borne diseases. Besides, they will closely follow up and ensure the implementation of latrine cleaning, environmental and private premises are kept neat and supervise water quality management is in compliance with the standards, guideline and directions provided by I1D and the national Emergency WASH cluster, beneficiary needs and donor requirements.
Key areas of responsibilities
Provide Technical Assistance:
- Ensure project conformity to Sphere standards for water and sanitation service provision, are gender sensitive, and mainstream child Safeguarding requirement for WASH implementation
- Conduct Installation of damage handpump replacement
- Prepare BoQ and specification for sanitation facility construction
- provide refresher training for community-based staff on key hygiene messages and approaches
- Closely follow and take actions to distribute purchased ESNFIs/NFIs and other items on time and make sure items are not stored for more than a week in warehouse.
- Make regular contacts and hold discussions with government officials at Woreda and Kebelle levels and also with beneficiaries to create smooth relationships, mutual understanding and support in the area of emergency WASH activities.
- Facilitate handing over of completed water supply, sanitation and hygiene activities by the project to the beneficiaries in consultation with the concerned government offices and cluster representatives and ensure proper documentations for future reference.
- Facilitate payments for vendors/suppliers/contractors, volunteers, trainees and trainers
- Supervise, oversee and guide the day-to-day activities of the WASH activities in the project target town
- Prepare and review agreements, if any, that need to be signed with beneficiaries or other parties in accordance with the guidelines/policy of the organization.
- Review DIP of the project and make necessary adjustments when needed in consultation with the project coordinator.
Planning & Supervision:
- Conducts baseline information related to WASH accessibility status in collaboration with other staff members and prepares plan of action for respective woredas/kebeles;
- Conduct field level damage assessment, gap and quantify the damage for further action accordingly.
- Conduct close field supervision to ensure most cost effective and most efficient implementation of the hygiene promotion and other related works in line with the plan, available standards, community needs and donor’s requirement
- Conducts joint, supportive and facilitative supervision with woreda and kebele staff on the activities of community nutrition agents;
- Supervise development and implementation of training and other capacity-strengthening activities in the WASH sector
- Supervises project activities and budgets, which includes tracking of project activities
Networking & Learning:
- Works closely with WASHco and water and Energy Office and other government partners and community-level institutions to promote WASH interventions with targeted households;
- Keeps updated with developments in WASH sectors, including best practice examples and ensure ongoing personal development and learning;
- Participates in the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned in available forums
Reporting:
- Prepares monthly/quarterly biannual and annual progress reports as requested and submits to the Project coordinator;
- Provide timely updates and narrative reports and feedback on the progress of ES/NFI distribution, challenges and concerns encountered to the Project
- Coordinator and others as requested in writing and follow up action points

About You
Required Qualifications
- Education: BSC in Water resource Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Environmental Health/ Engineering and other related fields
- Experience: 3-5 years relevant experience of WASH at least 3 years in an International NGO or similar organization.
- Solid experience in Water scheme rehabilitation, sanitation facilities construction/maintenance, hygiene promotion activities and also in WASH Project Design, supervision, analysis and report writes up, Experience in WASH Cluster engagement has an added value, Experience in international NGO’s and other UN organizations
Other Competencies/Abilities/Skills Required
- Relevant trainings and capacity built on Humanitarian Accountability Principles, Sphere, WHO water quality guideline, PSEA, Accountability to Affected people, project Management and Grants report writing.
- Experience on Community Engagement and Cooperation
- Experience with emergency WASH activities

2.Project Coordinator
About the position:
The post-holder is responsible for leading the development and implementation of Integrated and Multisectoral Response to unmet needs of internally displaced people in Sekota town of Amhara Region EHF consortium project. S/he will be in close coordination with the Project Coordinator of Nexus Ethiopia/ the Consortium Coordinator. In addition, s/he will also be responsible in ensuring that technical relevant inputs and support are provided to field staff, government partners, local NGOs, Department of Education, and other stakeholders that are working for the project to ensure integration of project initiatives in the assigned area. S/he will be responsible for coordination with Health, DRRM, Water & Energy, Social Affair Office and other involved stakeholders.
Imagine 1 Day implement WASH, Nutrition and ES/NFI and MPC program. All staff may be requested to support a humanitarian response as the need arises.
Key areas of responsibilities
Project Coordination & Implementation:
- Contributes to the analysis and periodic updating of issues affecting children in the locality area.
- Responsible for the planning, daily management, and implementation of consortium project deliverables.
- Serves as the frontline person that stimulates action, liaises with the regional agencies, provincial government and others partners and facilitates the delivery of project initiatives in the assigned area/s
- Coordinates with the other program/project staff and Regional Manager to ensure the synchronized delivery of outputs according to plan in the area(s) of assignment.
- Responsible for mobilizing, activating and strengthening community groups to design, manage and sustain project initiatives
- Facilitate the planning sessions, capacity building and field-based advocacy activities
- Establish and strengthen different capacity in monitoring and evaluation, program implementation, and timely reporting.
- Prepares monthly fund request and monitor the budget vs actual expenditures
- Responsible for the timely submission to the Consortium Coordinator of well-prepared program/project updates and reports that may be required in the area(s) of assignment
Networking, Partnering and Advocacy
- Conducts Maps and identifies potential partners (community-based groups, civil society organizations and academe) that Imagine 1 Day can work with in relevant thematic/geographic areas
- Establishes and maintains active working relationships with local partners, local government units and other NGOs specific to concerned thematic areas.
- Provides feedback to the Regional Manager regarding prospective partners and donors and opportunities for resource mobilization.
- Implement local advocacy activities in line with the national policy agenda (which may include participation, networking, mobilizing the public, engaging the private sector and media, and partners 😉 and support national advocacy efforts.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning
- Ensures that the project utilizes MEAL findings/results in enhancing/modifying project implementation.
- Assists in identifying priorities for and in the conduct of program documentation
Capacity Building:
- Facilitates capacity-building activities to project partners in consultation with Regional Director & manager
- Consult with partners to identify training needs
- Coaches/mentors supervisees and provides leadership/technical support to project staff as needed
Human Resources, Finance, Member Service and Logistics
- Assists in the formulation of annual performance objectives ensuring alignment and harmony with work unit objectives.
- Supports project staff in complying with PSEA, Child Safeguarding Policy, Policy on fraud and Anti-Corruption and safety and Security Policy.
- Ensures that project activities, initiatives, processes and events are in line with I1D policies and procedures. Contributes in building a culture of member service by understanding the importance of Member and reasonable demands.
- Oversees compliance to Supply Chain Policies, to including development of procurement plan and meeting.
- Ensures the judicious use of I1D resources, Service and supporting the country office’s ability to be responsive to member needs.
- Coordinates with Finance to ensure availability and timely release of financial support for approved activities

- Experience: 5 -7 years relevant experience, at least 3 years in an International NGO in a similar position (project manager/ Coordinator) organization.

3.Nutrition Officer
About the position:
The Nutrition Officer will act as the key technical support person supporting the implementation and accomplishment of all Nutrition activities to the EHF project in Waghimera Zone Sekota town with supervision and direction from the Project Coordinator. The position holder will also be responsible for capacity-building of field staff and government partners using relevant tools and technical approach. S/he will work closely with and support the woreda team leaders and community-based nutrition and committees/clubs, etc. to ensure that all activities related to nutrition are implemented in a coordinated and harmonized manner.
Key areas of responsibilities
Provide Technical Assistance:
- Lead in the implementation of activities in the target woredas and kebeles focused on the intersection of nutrition and WASH. The key activities are as follows:
- Train partners, HDAs and staffs on MUAC, IMAM, IYCF practice
- Routine Nutrition screening and management of SAM/MAM
- Facilitate increased awareness and knowledge of maternal nutrition
- Facilitate increased access to diversified nutritious foods
- Distributing information on available GBV services and referral pathways
- Establish 13 MtMSG and facilitate group discussion sessions on MIYCF with PLW
- IYCF Practices enhancement through counseling and support
- Most vulnerable IDP & host community of SAM case member HHs selection and verification for Cash support
- Positive deviance through preparation of IEC/BCC materials in local languages on the key determinant factors of the health status of the community
- Facilitate the supply and administration of logistical needs for project implementation;
- Ensure effective implementation of the project activities as per the set plan of action;
- Ensure measurable impact of health and nutrition activities and a robust M&E system is in place;
- Ensure quality of health and nutrition activities designed to reduce the vulnerability of women in food insecure households/communities;
- Monitor progress and provide ongoing feedback and recommendations to the project management;
- Participate, as required, in the health and nutrition assessments carried out in project operational areas
Planning & Supervision:
