Senior Database Administrator
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and manage multiple databases and assist in capacity planning
- Monitor, maintain database systems and troubleshoot problems that may arise
- Continuously monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of all database resources; identifies opportunities for improvement and provides recommendations
- Maintain data integrity and security (manage roles and permissions of database users).
- Use tools like SQL Profiler for database tuning. Generate traces, execution plans, identify performance issues, deadlocks/contention and resolve them
- Develop strategies and implement solutions for managing back-ups, restoration and replication.
- Create and manage constraints and indexes.
- Support software developers with database operations including the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML and the creation of stored procedures.
- Ensure the smooth migration whenever there is a need for database upgrades. Ensure the consistency and integrity of data during the migration.
- Modifies the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers
- Analyze system problems , perform root cause analysis and propose solutions
- Proactive housekeeping/archiving and shrinking of databases
- Ensure the deployment of patches, new releases, installs software, manages database environment, monitors performance, and troubleshoots alerts.
- Customize system reports based on user inquiries if applicable
- Create detailed documentation including diagrams of database infrastructure
- Learn relevant business processes and understand the data flow, criticality and dependencies.
- Effectively coordinate and communicate with all the stakeholders (internal teams and clients).
- Ensure EOD, EOM and EOY processes done successfully
About You
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL
- EDUCATION/TRAINING
- B.Sc. degree in computer Science, Software engineering, Information Technology or related fields
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Information Technology and 3 years as a database administrator
TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS
- Experience in Core banking implementation or operation
- Technical trainings and proven experience on Microsoft Sql, MySQL and Oracle databases
- Trainings on programming languages such as C#, PHP, html preferred
- Knowledge and usage of object oriented, and other design patterns and methodologies,
- Application Development Management and methodology skills,
- Ability to contribute to the creation of an environment that motivated individuals to work collaboratively as a team,
- Able to communicate with and understand the Business Process Analyst/Systems Analysts.
- Ability to deal with a variety of problems and choosing the best decision among many available alternatives.
- Abilities of technical writing and documentation.
- Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
- Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Good understanding of the organizations goals and objectives
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
