Junior Electrical Engineer at Humanitarian Energy Plc

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and design of mini-grid systems, including solar, and hybrid systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical specifications, drawings, and system layouts.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to conduct feasibility studies and energy assessments.
  • Participate actively in the installation and commissioning of mini-grid systems, ensuring technical precision and operational excellence.
  • Monitor system performance and assist in troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning systems and their components, thereby reducing downtime and helping to maintain high levels of system operational reliability.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all related local regulations and industry standards, maintaining the highest levels of safety and quality.
  • Engage proactively with local communities and stakeholders to accurately estimate energy needs and guarantee that projects are well-aligned with local expectations.
  • Prepare reports and documentation on project progress and technical findings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of solar systems.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy systems generation and electrical distribution networks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and adapt to dynamic project requirements.
  • Willingness to travel and work for extended periods in remote project sites

Preferred Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of project management principles and practices, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Comprehensive understanding of energy policy, economics, and sustainability issues, contributing to the development of environmentally responsible and economically viable energy solutions.
  • Flexible with working hours and having excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proactive and flexible in adapting to changing environments
  • Skilled in software like Homer, AutoCAD, Proteus, MatLab, ETAP, DIgSILENT, Power Factory
  • Very good in Microsoft Office products such as Ms-Word, Ms-Excel, Ms-PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio and Ms-Project
  • Significant stakeholder management
  • Fast learner and ambitious for professional growth
  • Possibly, fluency in the Somali language
