JSI is a US-based public health nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high-quality technical and managerial assistance programs throughout the world. In Ethiopia, JSI has been working to improve health outcomes for more than 25 years, implementing more than 60 projects and working in every region. JSI has historically managed a large portfolio of projects focusing on the quality, and equity in access of, RMNCAH services, primary health care (PHC) including community health program, digital health, health information systems (HIS), supply chain management, public health emergency responses, and social and behavior change.
Activity Overview
USAID Quality Healthcare Activity (QHA) aims at improving health outcomes through improved readiness of health facilities to deliver quality reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH) services, increased management and accountability for quality service delivery, and restoration of services in health facilities in conflict-affected areas. QHA’s strategies and implementation approaches will help Ethiopia’s government build responsive, resilient, and sustainable public and private healthcare systems. QHA will cover urban and peri-urban primary health care units (PHCU) and referral health facilities in select regions and woredas. The Activity, through funding support from USAID, will be implemented by JSI in collaboration with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), MSI Reproductive Choices (MSI), Project HOPE, and Network of Ethiopian Women’s Associations (NEWA) for five years (May 01, 2023 – April 30, 2028).
Under direct supervision of Finance and Operations Coordinator, the office assistant oversees the kitchen; ensures the quality, preparation and the service to meets the staff needs and standards daily. Ensures high standard and sanitation is maintained throughout the kitchen and office space. Copies finance/operations/HR documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures regulated sanitation and safety standards are followed and comply with local regulations. Sanitation and safety standards include proper preparation, cleanliness of areas, as well as ensuring customers are safe from possible illness or infection related to service.
- Prepares budgets related to staff services and ensure the operation of services efficiently and effectively.
- Responsible for filling out requisitions, procurement, and stocking of the required supplies.
- Takes part in the purchasing of items together with concerned team
- Facilitate the preparation of services and events for staffs as per the schedule;
- Acts as the custodian of all the assets and inventories in the kitchen;
- Must participate in checking of all purchased supplies for quality and account for each delivered item.
- Investigates and handles customer complaints appropriately
- Clean the assigned office floor every day including offices, kitchens and all related communal areas;
- Make photocopies and binding documents to office staff, ensuring safe keeping of original documents and handling photocopying and binding machines carefully;
- Distribute letters, memos, and other documents as required;
- Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
About You
- Certificate/Diploma in Catering and food preparations or in similar field
- A minimum of 2 years work experience in a similar position
- Ready to listen and address problems when arise
- Able to coach and guide staff working under supervision
- Experience working with NGOs sector in similar field
- Multi-task oriented. Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
